Where were we

Video Art is more than images moving on a background. It’s Prince Achmed, it’s Norman McClaren, it’s Naomi Uman. Every film is a world onto itself, with its own rules and rhythm. It doesn’t get better (in any medium) than Jim Trainors’ Bats or Martha Colburn’s Cats Amore or Chris Marker’s Sans Soliel or Gustavo Cerquera Benjumea’s Borrachero.

I was fortunate enough to be taught by the great Jim Duesing at The University of Cincinnati’s DAAP. He taught us the importance of being able to make technically correct work but also the importance of looking at things besides animation to make animations.

When I want to draw a camel I no longer limit myself, as I once did, to looking only at camels.
